Zelda Fitzgerald’s quote, ‘Nobody has ever measured, not even the poets, how much the heart can hold’ immediately came to mind when I was asked to create a design to support Pam from Cottage Garden Threads last year. It was such a pleasure to be able to give back (a little) in thanks to Pam for her ever-so inspiring threads and her and the CGT team’s kindness and support.
A group of designers were asked simply to create a design around the prompt ‘hearts’ using a set palette of Cottage Garden Threads. Being me, my brain went in a slightly different direction than everyone else – and I created this piece, which I can now share with you.
Zelda Fitzgerald was an accomplished writer, but she is better known as being the wife of F Scott Fitzgerald and the inspiration for the character of ‘Daisy’ in the Great Gatsby. I love her poignant quote, which can be read in several different ways. I hope you enjoy stitching it for yourself or for a loved one.
While this was designed with Cottage Garden Threads in mind, I’ve provided some conversions here – but keep in mind you won’t get the lovely movement that you get from the CGT.
