Stitching in the Mountains:

Summer 2024 retreat recap and Winter 2025 retreat announcement!

Our Summer retreat was such a joy – Lisa from Paddock Lane Designs and I had such fun putting on our latest retreat, held again at the gorgeous Glenella in Blackheath. I am truly humbled by the creativity and kind heart of all the attendees, both returning and new. These few pics barely capture the sense of community and the relaxed atmosphere of people creating together.

Lucky prize winners!

As always, there were classes to learn new things, new friends to meet and old friends to catch up with again. Lisa ran her wonderful bingo games, giving away lots of lucky door prizes, and I had the pleasure of spending time with each and everyone who joined us. Glenella is situated right in the heart of Blackheath in the beautiful Blue Mountains, surrounded by wonderful cafes, restaurants, shops and the World Heritage Blue Mountains National Park. We had a bout of very Blackheath weather, with foggy mornings and some Summer rain – the perfect stitching weather!

A special thank you to all the kind creatives who donated prizes for our raffle:

  • Theresa at Daisy Chain Stitchery (check out her amazing hand-dyed fabric): https://daisychainstitchery.com/
  • Andrea Caffrey (stitching portfolios beyond comparison): Instagram @philand69
  • Alix and her gorgeous project bags: https://littlecozyprops.etsy.com Insta: @sasha_needlework
  • Lisa from Paddock Lane Designs (retreat runner extraordinaire, designer and fabric dyer): https://paddocklanedesigns.com/
  • And a special thanks to my dad, maker of remarkable birdhouses, and my mum, weaver of beautiful baskets…

With these wonderful donations and the kind support of the retreat attendees, we raised $540 for the Older Women’s Network NSW, in thanks for the older women in our lives and in support for the dignity and rights of every member of the community.

An extra thanks to Ginger Stitch: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/GingerStitchAu for donating fabulous needleminders for everyone, and my very talented aunt Lyn Kabanoff for her textile art donations as very lucky doorprizes. And a special thanks to all the helpers and all the attendees: this retreat is something special because of you! My sincere thanks for your kindness, creativity and companionship…
