Vienna Roses

Adapted from an antique, and my birthday exclusive

Many of you remember “Echoes of a Garden Past” from last year, which I released as a special birthday exclusive. I’ve seen so many beautiful people stitching it (and a couple of finishes!) and I’m so glad to hear how much you’re enjoying such a special piece.

This year, I wanted something simple and calming. I’ve been super busy this year, with more new releases than ever, more retreats than ever before… It’s been wonderful, but a lot for a quiet-craving person like me. So for this year’s reverse birthday present, I wanted to stitch something as relaxing is possible, and “Vienna Roses” is what I chose.

Inspired by a quirky antique table runner in my collection, this was a joy to stitch, especially in the butter-smooth Cascade House Embroidery silks. My model was stitched 2 over 2 on 32-count Flax, using 10 colours of CHE silks and it stitched up so quickly! With lots of negative space, this high-impact design was a dream to create.

My colour palette is very similar to the antique original, but it would also be easy to change the colour of the roses – how about deep reds, bright hot pinks, or peach? I can’t wait to see what you create!

As my special birthday exclusive, this pattern is available now and only in my Etsy store. I have hard-copy and PDF charts and silk threadpacks as well (message me if they’re sold out – there’s more coming). And, of course, the chart contains a full DMC conversion, as always.

You can see more of the design and the antique in my latest Flosstube, as well as a sneak peek at another design that will be released early next year in stores.

I hope that stitching this piece brings you the calm and relaxation that you deserve – particularly at this time of year…
