Pokolbin is in the Hunter Valley, a place renowned for it’s vineyards, where once a year, I travel over rolling hills to the Daisy Chain Stitcher’s Retreat. Run by the wonderful Theresa Craig (of Daisy Chain Stitchery and fabric dyer of Whoopsie Daisy Designs) and her family, this is a highlight of my year. This little drum pin-keep was created as a retreat exclusive last year, and I’m thrilled to be able to bring it to you now.
While the design reflects a specific place, it’s images that evoke happy times with friends, I hope resonates more widely. I hope it reminds you of spending time with those you care about (whether you have rolling vineyards outside or not!). I loved creating this piece, and hope you make it your own by customising the skin and hair colours of the friends.
My model was stitched on 32-count “Artichoke” by Whoopsie Daisy Designs, and has a stitch count of 126w x 49h. I stitched it 2 over 2 using Cottage Garden Threads “Bookshelf” Edit (my collaboration with CGT) and DMC white (full DMC conversion provided). It’s stitched using full crosses over 2 and a couple of back-stitches.
The pattern includes full finishing instructions – and truly – drums aren’t as hard as you think!
